I really love the mostly monochrome blue effect that you have here with the black and white also. It really allows one to focus on the feeling portrayed, that casual confidence of facing a wind in a mysterious land of a floating checkerboard in the background. I'm not TOO familiar with homestuck (I started it and looked at a summary), but this is a great work of art in its on right. I like the detail of the shading on the blue clothing and ...wizard hat (NOT harry potter i know).
This has a really nice mood to it. I don't think I commented on it when it first came out, but seeing it again is great.
Also. I'm drawing apples (you can guess why, psst drew a rainbow in the background) but I was wondering if red apples were your favorite. Because that's what people usually think of. But there are a lot of others like Macintosh (they are so good at running programs and being inedible) just kidding I know there's a real apple variety called that. And granny smith apples and other kinds I guess. But I was wondering if I should draw a certain kind of apple/ apple tree that's more relevant than a generic red one.
Ahhhhhh, this is so playful and I love the swirls and every single aspect of this is beautifully drawn. Wonderful background and just ... just a well-done composition in general. And John is perfect! Awesome work.
